You’ve found the dress, booked the venue, and secured your glam - but your skin? That’s your real canvas. As a bridal makeup artist, I can promise you: the better your skin, the better your makeup.

Here's how to get your complexion wedding-ready - from the inside out.

1. Start Early - 6 to 12 Months Is Ideal

The best skin transformations don’t happen overnight. If you’re dealing with concerns like acne, texture, or pigmentation, begin working with a licensed esthetician at least 6 months out. That allows time for treatment plans, consistency, and real results.

2. Skincare Is a Ritual, Not a Rush

Consistency is everything. Stick to a gentle routine focused on hydration, barrier repair, gentle exfoliation and sunscreen. Avoid switching products too often or jumping on last-minute trends (especially close to the wedding). Great skin is built on trust - with your products and your plan.

3. Professional Treatments Can Help - If Timed Right

Facials, microneedling, peels, laser and LED therapy can all be incredible tools - when done with enough lead time. Your last professional facial should be at least 7–10 days before the big day to avoid any potential reactions or purging. My favorite combo is a Hydrafacial paired with dermaplaning. Remember to try this out at least once before your pre-wedding treatment to avoid any reactions.

4. Avoid Last-Minute Product Experiments

The week of your wedding is not the time to try new actives or fancy products from TikTok. Stick to what your skin knows and loves. Sudden breakouts or reactions are the last thing you want in those final days. Focus on being gentle with your skin and hydrating from the inside out.

5. Your Makeup Artist Can Guide You

Upon booking, my brides receive a detailed skincare onboarding questionnaire, product recommendations, and guidance tailored to their needs. Preparing your skin isn’t just your responsibility - it’s part of our shared process.

Final Thoughts

The most radiant brides aren’t just wearing great makeup - they’re wearing skin that’s been loved, cared for, and prepared with intention. Take the time, trust the process, and your glow will speak for itself.

Great makeup starts with great skin - and that takes time.
